What is an Orange Lime Relaxer Mocktail?
Before we get down to the details on how to make this thirst-quenching beverage, let’s first talk about what it’s made up of, and what exactly makes it so tasty. As mentioned before, this drink is easy to make, and that is thanks to the limited ingredients it takes, which are lime juice, orange juice, ice, and a couple of lime wedges.
Not only do these ingredients give it a real citrus flavor, but the lemonade adds a fizzy kick, which combined, make for a perfect mocktail – Oh and did we mention that this is a great source of Vitamin C? This is a perfect relaxing drink for non-alcoholic drinkers, which tastes truly delicious.
The classic orange lime relaxer mocktail gets its name, because of how it makes you feel – refreshed and relaxed, which is what makes this one of the most popular mocktails out there. The ingredients go perfectly together to create a smooth and almost tropical flavor, which calms the senses and some may even call this a ‘mindful mocktail’.
One of the main reasons why this classic mocktail has become a much-loved nonalcoholic beverage of choice is because it does not contain any alcohol-free alternatives (rumless rum or whiskeyless whiskey), but rather all-natural ingredients, as well as the fact that you do not need to be a cocktail master of any kind to create one of these in the comfort of your own home.
The History of the Orange Lime Relaxer
While original recipes feature rum as the alcohol component, it is more than likely that this drink originated in the Caribbean, where rum is aplenty. Just like many Caribbean cocktails, the Orange Lime Relaxer Mocktail has spread throughout the world and there are two ways to make it, either with or without rum.
While this rum-based drink, traditionally had some brown sugar in addition and an optional sprig of mint, the mocktail version opts for a healthier version, leaving out the sugar and taking advantage of the natural flavors and sugars from the fruits. Both of these drinks have their specific tastes, but we can all agree that the benefits of the orange lime relaxer mocktail are that you get more health benefits and zero hangover – which is a winner if you ask us.
Many of today’s cocktails originate from the Caribbean islands, to give everyone that tropical feeling no matter where they are in the world, and these days you will find many classic rum cocktails including the orang lime relaxer mocktail, made with zero alcohol. So, if you are dying to get your hands on a Caribbean-inspired cocktail that has a health kick, then keep reading for the simple recipe, which can be created within a matter of minutes, and with very little preparation.
